Dog Пёс (фр. chien): довольно часто встречается среди геральдических фигур, под различными названиями, изображение в большинстве случаев сделано в соответствии с описание собаки. Сталое название - levrier, образовалось от leverer, среди гербов последних двух или трёх столетий наиболее часто встречается название greyhound (борзая), bloodhound (ищейка) и ratch-hound (гончая) встречаются реже. talbot – охотничья собака, отличающаяся формой ушей; в одном или двух гербах, встречается современный мастиф mastiff, а также спаниель и терьер spaniel and the terrier. Alant, или Aland, [Span. alano., мед. лат. Canes alani), мастиф с короткими ушами, встречается только как щитодержатель герба Lord DACRE.

В следующих примерах будет показано, что кроме обычного положения собаки, которая идёт (passant), собака может быть представлена сидящей (sejant) , стоящей на задних лапах(rampant), скачущей (skipping), ищущей (questing(т.е. pointing), бегущей (courant) лающей (in full cry ?). Уши могут быть различной тинктуры, и на собаке может быть ошейник (gorged or collared).
