Очень частая фигура, особенно в гербах морских портов и торговых компаний. Форма кораблей очень различается в различных примерах, по большей части копируя бытующую моду. При поименовании корабля он должен быть скурпулёзно описан, особо отмечается число мачт и стеньг (masts, top-masts), есть ли какие-либо паруса (sails, фр. voiles) и если да – свёрнуты они (furled) или нет. Такелаж (rigging) также может отличаться по цвету. Следует отметить что зачастую называется корпус судна (hulk of the vessel), а иногда и корма (stern). Корабли и замки настолько разнообразны по своей форме, что составляют большие трудности, чем любая другая фигура. Можно видеть, что обычно корабль изображается с тремя мачтами, если мачта одна, возможно, лучше будет блазонировать такое судно как Lymphad (см.), который также может иметь вёсла, или галерой; но последняя нередко имеет три мачты.

Корпус или остов судна (hull или hulk) иногда служит самостоятельной фигурой, а в ряде случаев (характерный пример, символы CINQUE PORTS) показывается лишь часть корпуса. Часто hulk соединяется с другой фигурой. Паруса и мачты также выступают в роли фигур, первые иногда рисуются с частью мачты или, как минимум, реи (yardarm).

Термин «древний корабль» (antique / ancient ship) иногда подразумевает Lymphad (см.). Когда называются вёсла (oars), нпр. в гербе SINCLAIR, хотя сама фигура названа кораблём (ship), вероятно подразумевается галнра (galley). Испанский торговый корабль в гербе FAVENC (см. в ст. Mulberry) и Ноев ковег из герба Company of SHIPWRIGHTS упоминаются в соответствующем месте. «Shambrogue» (см.), обозначаемый некоторыми как корабль, не является таковым вообще.
