Венерой (Venus) те, кто принимают планеты, и изумруд (Emerald) – драгоценные камни, абсурдно называют этё тинктуру. В гравировке показывается наклонными линиями справа. Французы называют «Sinople», возможно по городу в Малой Азии дававшему лучшие материалы для зелёной краски ил блестящие шёлковые ткани изумрудного цвета; появляется не ранее XV века. В древних гербовниках иногда используется, нпр. в «Roll of Carlaverock» называется «verde». Термин «prasin» также причудливо используемый восходит к греч. πρασον – лук-порей.

B gives 1415 as the date at which the term is first used as vert in French blazon. It may be that the shift in meaning came about because of the confusion between the Fr. homonyms vert and vair, although it would seem that equal confusion would have been caused by the changing of the meaning of a term which had already been accepted for two centuries.
