Как самостоятельная фигура исп., кажется, только в одном гербе, но замки, башни иногда описываются «с флюгером» (bearing vanes), нпр. символы Эдинбурга (См. Castle). Относительно герба приписывамого Лорд-мэру Лондона в XII веке, то возможно, это изобретение века XVI-го, хотя и непохожее на ранние торговые марки (Merchants' marks). В «Stow's Survey» флюгер изображен как на краевой иллюстрации.
