WREATH, Torse, or Torce. Is a garland, chaplet, or attire for the head.

               The wreath, upon which the Crest is placed, is of silk, composed of two different tinctures twisted together, and showing six folds,, three of each tincture, and the tinctures of the wreath are with few exceptions, those first mentioned in blazoning the coat of arms. The Wreath is placed between the helmet and the crest which are fastened together by it. P.47. In some instances crowns or coronets supply the place of the wreath, P. 21, f. 21, but Crests are always understood to be placed upon a wreath, when not ordered to be borne upon a Crown, Coronet, Cap, or Chapeau. When a wreath composed of silk, is placed round the temples of a man, it should have two bows with strings at the sinister end. P. 36, f. 37. (ELVN)

С технической точки зрения представляет собой жгур, скрученный из полос из золотого или серебряного кружева и шёлка с помощью которого нашлемник соединяется со шлемом. Некоторые бурлеты в пятнадцатом веке состоят из четырёх цветов. Иногда, но некорректно, называется «roll» или «torse». Вероятно был заимствован крестоносцами из скрученных тюрбанов сарацин. Первое упоминание у сэра Sir John de Harsich, 1384 г.

Бурлет показывает равное количество витков (общее число ограничено шестью) цвета которых чередуются и обычно совпадают с основными цветом и металлом герба. Всякий нашлемник полагается расположенным на бурлете, если не указана конкретная шапка или корона (chapeau или coronet). Но иногда бурлет выступает в роли гербовой фигуры, напр. мы находим круглый бурлет (circular wreath). Это тот же объект но показанный с другой точки зрения. Животные иногда также изображаются с бурлетом на голове.
