AVANT-MUR. Signifies a wall attached to a Tower ; e.g. a Tower the sinister side Avant-Mur. P. 23, f. 1. (ELVN)

Avant-mur ... ordinairement à senestre de la construction.
- 1780 Se dit d’un pan de muraille joint à une tour; par exemple, d’Oriol, en Bresse, porte d’azur à une tour senestrée d’un avant-mur d’argent.
- 1843 Pan de muraille joint à une tour, à un château.
- 1885 Pan de muraille joint à une tour.
- 1887 Pan de muraille attenant à une tour ou château.
- 1899 Pan de muraille joint à une tour pour en augmenter la force : avoir soin, lorsqu’il est maçonné d’un autre émail que celui du meuble, de le spécifier.
