SEAL. A device, or an engraved inscription ; also an impression made on wax.

               Personal Seals may be regarded among the most trustworthy evidences of armorial bearings. Indeed, when a seal attached to a charter bears the same name as that of the person granting the charter, its authority for a shield of arms is almost indisputable. (ELVN)

Seal Тюлень – морское млекопитающее, воспринятое в несколько гербов. Как кажется, был назван причудливо геральдическими писателями «морской телёнок» (sea-calf) или «морской волк» (sea-wolf), возможно, «морской медведь» означает также тюленя (см. Bear). Но животное целиком не исп.. только голова и лапы, но и они – редко.
