CHESS-ROOK, or CHESSE-ROOK. One of the pieces used in the game of Chess. P. 43, f. 49. (ELVN)

Chess-rook Rouke: old fr. for Chess-rook. Chess-rook, (old fr. rok): Шахматная фигура, называемая 'rook' «ладья» или «тура» , от итальянского rocca, башня замка. Является старой гербовой фигурой, часто встречающейся. В гербе ZULEISTEIN называется a zule, носима на щитке escutcheon surtout (сюртука?) Earls of ROCHFORD.
