CARDINAL’S CAP, or HAT. P. 40, f. 60.  

               A Cardinal’s Hat is red, The Archbishops of France bear a hat of this description over their arms, but its colour is vert, and it has only four rows of tassels ; Abbots bear the same sable with three rows of tassels. (ELVN)
