- buckle
BUCKLE, also termed Fermaile, or Femaille. The emblem of Fidelity and Firmness.
In Armoury these are of various shapes ; In blazoning them this must be named ; as a lozengy-buckle tongue-fessways. P. 42, f. 15. An oval-buckle and round-buckle tongue pendent. f. 15. A mail, or square-buckle, a buckle of an heart shape tongue pendent, a round-buckle tongue erect, and a belt-buckle. P. 42, f. 16. The last example at f. 16 is also termed a gar-buckle. (ELVN)
Buckle
Buckle (fr. boucle), or fermail (old fr. fermaille) i.e. fer de maille

Так как в гербах встречались пряжки различных форм, стало наобходимым её указывать. Пряжка arming-buckle имеет форму ромба.

Кроме этого мы найдём пряжки квадратные, круглые и даже овальные. В некоторых случаях шпенёк у пряжки повёрнут вправо, иногда – влево, и к разнообразию пряжек можно добавить gar buckle (возможно, сокращение от garter buckles – пряжка ордена подвязки (?)), и пояс-пряжка (belt-buckle).

Ремень иои подвязка с пряжкой могут называться buckled, и обычно в этом случае пряжка – другой тинктуры.
