The ensign of the Royal Navy is white with St. George’s cross cantoned with the Union Jack. The Naval Reserve is blue with the Union Jack in the dexter chief. That of the Merchant Service is a red flag with the Union Jack as the last. P. 25a, f. 5 and 6. (ELVN)
Ensign знак, символ, эмблема, орден или Insignia, (фр. enseigne): более корректный термин для гербовых фигур королевства, гос.учреждений, или землячеств. Обычно используемое выражение для гербов Англии, или герба того или другого города. Термин ensigned имеет различные значения, и используется для фигуры, имеющей крест, или митру, или корону, расположенную над этой фигурой, для этого же случая используется термин supporting. Это отличается от enfiled. Древко также может быть ensigned (завершено?) флагом.
