Фигуры святых и мучеников едва ли пригодны в качстве геральдических фигур: ещё в позднем средневековье появляются изображения святых в связи с некоторыми северными кафедрами и бургами, хотя речь скорее идёт не о гербах а о печатях (seal-devices). Фигура Св. Андрея появляется как инсигния Св. Андрея; Св. Бонифаций – кафедры Ross; Св. Брюс – печать бурга Kirkaldie; Св. Эдмунд – инсигния епископства Isles; Св. Жиль – кафедры Moray; Св. Магнус – кафедры Orkney; Св. Маргарита Шотландская – бурга Queensferry; Св. Михаил – Абердинской кафедры, а также бургов Linlithgow и Dundee; Св ниниан – кафедра Galloway.

В описании инсигний ирландского епископства Cashel, Emly и т.д. подразумевается абстрактный святой без имени, как и в случае с бургом Brechin.

Заметно, что фигуры святых по разному положены в щит и облачены, кроме того блазон сильно вартируется, т.к. каждый писатель пользуется своей системой описания, практически не связанной с обычной геральдикой.

Список приведённый здесь может быть расширен, но достаточно показать способ восприятия святых в качестве гербовых фигур. См т.ж примеры Св. Николая в ст. Bishop, (г.о., но ошибочно описывается как Св. Михаил), Благословляющей Девы Марии и т.д. (Blessed Virgin Mary). Кроме того часто встречаются эмблемы – атрибуты святых: крест Св Георгия, Андреевский крест, ножи Св. Варфоломея, колесо Св. Екатерины, бичи Св. Гутлака и т.д. и т.п.
