Well

Колодец с круглой кирпичной кладкой, иногда изображается как на полях. Хотя сходное круглое сооружение называется также «fountain» (см.) и служит геральдическим представлением того же самого, и принимается рядом семей с намёком на их значение. В то же время не всегда ясно что именно подразумевается, т.к. одни те же гербы имеют в описании то «fountains», то «wells». Каменный фогтан (stone fountain) это несомненно колодец. Термин «cold well» в описании герба CALDWELL является обычным колодцем. Фигуры называемые «water-houses», видимо, относятся к вымощенным камнем каналам (stone-built conduits).
